Invitation to an Information Meeting

TELEFRIEND www.telefriend.org.za is a non denominational telephone ministry which was established by Derek and Beryl Puffett 22 years ago in South Africa . Their mission is to provide emotional support and help bring people to wholeness through the love and grace of Jesus Christ. It differs from other telephone ministries in that it’s advertised to everyone in the community, not just Christians. Small leaflets or cards get distributed widely, for example surgeries, pharmacies, job centres, etc. This offers an amazing opportunity for Churches to work together in evangelising in a non directive and a non threatening way. With appropriate training, they become channels of the work of the Holy Spirit. Trained volunteers (Telehelpers) who are born again children of God, willing to give a few hours per month to answer calls at a centre to help hurting people with issues of life. Often callers don’t want to hear ‘God’, Jesus’ or ‘church’ being mentioned. The training includes how to speak, giving Godly principles and truths into people’s lives, without mentioning threatening words, until the Holy Spirit comes to do His work and they ask questions that could be addressed from a scriptural perspective. Telefriend has 2 arms: support and evangelism to non-believers and support and encouragement to believers. In South Africa, Telefriend and Ellel Ministries became one operation in 2004, under the leadership of Derek.
